Update 4/14/20:
Service will remain suspended through at least 4/23/20. We will continue to assess the situation to decide when it is prudent to resume service. Please check back here for updates. Stay safe!
Update 3/31/20:
Taking into account the governor’s extension of the New York State “On Pause,” which requires citizens to stay home as much as possible, as well as the CDC’s recommendations against any travel, our operations will remain suspended for the next two weeks (through April 15th). New York State is besieged with cases, and we feel we must remain closed at this time. This decision was made in conjunction with the Davis Park Association, who agreed that the ferry should remain inactive for the time being. We know everyone is excited to return to Fire Island, and we will be so happy to take you there later this season. Stay safe, stay home, and stay well.
Previous Statement:
Dear Passengers,
In response to the rapidly changing situation surrounding the novel coronavirus pandemic, we have decided to suspend operations at this time. This decision is not made lightly; we are taking into account federal and state recommendations as well as discussions with local representatives.
With the emerging situation in New York City and the possibility of shelter in place measures being implemented in the coming week, we cannot in good conscience continue service. Emergency services on Fire Island at this time of year are not able to support any population surges, particularly taking into account the possibility of delayed emergence of COVID-19 along with the normal emergency situations.
We know everyone is excited to start the season and is looking forward to the summer. Davis Park Ferry Co, Inc. is fully committed to the safety of our employees and of our customers, and as such we must encourage everyone to do their part in staying healthy and aiding containment. We will be suspending operations through March 29th and will re-evaluate the situation at that time to decide whether to resume.
Thank you!
Davis Park Ferry Crew
